10. The treatment

The treatment involves precise measurement of the quantity tooth surface lost and its restoration using bonded ceramics. To reduce the symptoms of dental erosion, bonded ceramics are used to re-position the lower jaw an re-establish neuromuscular relaxation in the cervical region.

Once the optimal position of the maxilla has been located and depending on the extent of surface lost, treatment is carried out, following a stabilising period, in 2 steps (from 1-3 days for each).

The first step involves preparing the teeth, taking accurate moulds of the prepared teeth and inserting temporary teeth.

The second step, about 5 weeks later, involves bonding the ceramic restorations (about 28-32) and adjusting occlusion (the "bite").

These dental erosion treatment techniques are not only totally reliable an aesthetically pleasing but they have proved to give long-lasting results.

The treatment involves relaxing the masticatory muscles, regaining a physiological neuromuscular position of the lower jaw, recording this position, and finally, reproducing the quantity of missing dental matter using bonded ceramics.

How long will it last?
The teeth will always remain lighter than before but to maintain the optimal colour it may be necessary to do 1 or 2 follow-up treatments per year.
What are the chances of failure?
There is always a whitening effect but some colours, because of the tetracycline will not disappear. They do not react to bleaching.
Is the treatment painful?
In most cases, no. Some people feel an increased sensitivity to hot and cold but this disappears at the end of the treatment.
Would I need to take time off from work?
No.

How long will it last?
As long as dental hygiene is respected, there is no limit to how long they will last.
What are the chances of failure?
As long as realised in propriate conditions there is no risk or failure. Unadequate conditions would be teeth with too deep a filling or which are largely worn out.
Is the treatment painful?
No, thanks to more sophisticated local anaesthetics.
Would I need to take time off from work?
No.

How long will it last?
Osteo-integrated implants are long-lasting as long as the periodontium (the tissues that surround and support the teeth) remains healthy.
What are the chances of failure?
None if the implant has been placed in propriate conditions.
Is the treatment painful?
No, thanks to more sophisticated local anaesthetics and new, non-traumatic, surgical techniques.
Would I need to take time off from work?
In most cases no, but maybe a few days if several implants are being Placed.

None, as long as local treatments (dental plaque removal) are carried out effectively.

No. In most cases, it doesn't even require pain killers or a local anaesthetic.

How long will it last?
When properly used and dental hygiene checked, the results are long-lasting.
What are the chances of failure?
None if the veneers has been realised with a proper jaw position (“bite”).
Is the treatment painful?
In most cases, no. The only pain that may occur is slight sensitivity to hot and cold and this disappears once the permanent veneer has finally been fitted.
Would I need to take time off from work?
No.

As long as dental hygiene is respected, there is no limit to how long it will last.
What are the chances of failure?
As long as the occlusion (or “bite”) has been stabilised before the beginning of the treatment, there is no risk. In some extreme cases where the teeth are very worn down, it may be necessary to wait 6 months before starting the prosthetic phase.
Is the treatment painful?
In most cases, thanks to more sophisticated local anaesthetics and pain killers, the treatment isn't painful.
Would I need to take time off from work?
No.
